Milk Toast

Every single guy, including Brad, on the AllTell Commercials. Geez I’m sick of those! But seriously, milk toast is a breakfast food consisting mainly, though not entirely, of toasted bread dipped in or covered in hot milk into which a small amount of butter has been melted. Cinnamon and raisins may be added. Milk toast was a popular food throughout the late 19th century and early 20th century, especially for young children and for the ailing, for whom the food was thought to be soothing and easy to digest. Although not as popular today, milk toast is still considered a comfort food.

Milk toast's soft blandness inspired the timid and ineffectual comic strip character Caspar Milquetoast, drawn by Harold Webster from 1924 to 1952. The term "milquetoast" is still used today to refer to a person of weak character or principles.

About The Owner

3.jpgHeidi is the founder and owner of Morrow’s Kitchen.  With over 20 years experience cooking professionally and for family and friends, Heidi began her cooking career on charter boats in the Caribbean. During the next four years, she gained experience preparing gourmet meals for vacationers while traveling throughout the French West Indies and sailing to the Mediterranean, and England. Once back in the US, Heidi served for two years on the line at a three star restaurant in a popular resort town in Michigan and slung hash at a dive diner in Washington state.

In recent years, Heidi has further enhanced her skills attending culinary schools both in the United States and while traveling throughout Asia.

Heidi’s teaching experience comes from over four years as a substitute teacher and volunteer at schools in both Arizona and Singapore. Heidi started teaching cooking classes in 2004.  In addition to teaching adults and kids to cook in Arizona, she also taught cooking to underprivileged children in Singapore. Heidi relishes all the joys of cooking and, most important, she loves to share these joys with others.
